Athlete Entrepreneurship

In this episode the Matts get the chance to talk with former Major League Baseball relief pitcher Jeff Montgomery.

Montgomery talks about his journey as a baseball player, from being in the minor leagues to making it to the major leagues. He played Major League Baseball for 13 years, 12 of which were for the Kansas City Royals.

Breaking the traditional closer mold, Montgomery became one of the most reliable relief aces in baseball that led his club in saves for over ten years with his unconventional four-pitch repertoire. He was a three-time All-Star and Royals Pitcher of the Year in 1998.

After retiring, he invested in sports radio, which he said is the best investment he has made. He mentioned how his experience as an athlete prepared him to become an entrepreneur and taught him an important lesson - that failure is part of the game.

Get more of Montgomery on this episode and hear how he describes the similarities between baseball and entrepreneurship!
